There are few things that can bring entire online businesses down. One of them is the Denial of Service (DoS) attack, targeting the Domain Name Service (DNS) servers. Small online businesses and huge international companies can be targeted and brought down by DoS attacks. "A DNS server compromised by a hacker could be used to funnel Web surfers to all sorts of phishing attacks and malicious Web sites, and in some cases even could cause havoc with directory services and e-mail," stated Paul Mockapetris, known as the father of DNS technology.
