From December 6, 2004, until September 18, 2007, Seagull Netwoks suffered a total of six Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Averaging two attacks per year, there was a significant impact on the company's services.
The initial attack caused a major router problem. On April 18, 2006, another DoS attack hit the Seagull networks, bringing down all the computers on the network. On May 1, 2006, a third DoS attack forced the company to filter traffic so as to keep its network up and running. Six days later another massive DoS attack hit Seagull, targeting the Domain Name Service (DNS) servers causing almost all of the domain names hosted by the company to go down.
The next attack came on September 14, 2006 under the form of a massive Internet Relay Chat (IRC) flood causing most of Seagull's services to go down. On September 18, 2007, a massive disruption brought down the entire Seagull network. It has not been determined if this was a DoS attack. However, an instant loss of online services like this one can stem from a large Denial of Service attack.
